Dropbox has been my preferred cloud-based storage system for quite some time. Whether it’s sharing files with other devices or sending large files, it makes the task very easy. Better still, it has been designed to work on any platform like iOS and macOS Sierra.
Just a couple of days back, I found Dropbox missing from Favorites in Finder. It took me some time to bring it back in the sidebar under Favorites. The prime reason why I like to keep Dropbox in Favorites is to be able to access it a bit easily. Here is how you can quickly add this cloud-based app to Favorites in Finder on your Mac.

This will most likely fix the Dropbox files not showing up issue. Go to the Dropbox section on the Finder and click on the gear icon to visit its preferences. In Finder, press Shift ⇧ + Command ⌘ + G and enter /Library/Preferences. Then find com.apple.finder.plist and move it to the Trash. Right-click on the Finder icon in the dock and select Relaunch. If this doesn't work, ensure that JPG files are associated with Preview.
How to Add Dropbox to Favorites in Finder Sidebar on your Mac
Step #1. First off, open Finder on your Mac.
Step #2. Next, you need to click on the drive, in this case, Macintosh HD.
Step #3. Now, you have to click on Users.
Step #4. Click on your Username.
Step #5. Finally, you need to locate the Dropbox folder and drag it to the sidebar under Favorites.

Go directly to the Dropbox folder’s default location
By default, the Dropbox folder is located in your user folder on your computer’s hard drive. To go straight to the Dropbox folder’s default location, follow the instructions for your operating system below:

Linux
Open a terminal and type cd ~/Dropbox.
macOS
Open Finder and select Go to folder. from the Go menu.
In the dialog box that appears, type ~/Dropbox/ and then press the return key.
Windows
Open Windows Explorer.
Type %HOMEPATH%/Dropbox into the address bar.

For easier access to the Dropbox folder on your computer, you can create a shortcut. To do so:
Go directly to the Dropbox folder’s location.
Right-click the Dropbox folder.
Click Make Alias (or Make Link on Linux).

Your shortcut will appear with alias appended to the name of the file. You can move the shortcut to the location you’d like to store it in.
